Abstract:
Two hundred strains of bacteria were isolated from the Antarctic sea ice, among which the strain of NJ136 was outstanding in EPA production. NJ136 was identified as
Shewanella frigidimarina NJ136 by 16 S rRNA. And its growth and EPA content with culture conditions, including temperate/carbon sources/nitrogen sources were studied. The result showed that optimum temperature was about 8 ^\circ \mathrmC, and EPA products decreased with increase of temperature. The optimum carbon source/nitrogen source were glucose/yeast extract with the level of 10 \mathrm~g / \mathrmL and 2 \mathrm~g / \mathrmL, respectively.
